Where the public demo stops
| Step | Where to go | Evidence and limits |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pallet Town | Name player and rival, then begin the starter sequence. Starter options and opening stats were not recorded in our session. |
| 2 | Route 1 → Viridian City | The developer lists this route. The official gallery shows the Center and Mart; inventory and scripted errands are not verified. |
| 3 (optional) | Route 22 | The developer names a Blue rematch. The gallery shows Squirtle at level 16 in one encounter, not every possible team. |
| 4 | Route 2 → Viridian Forest | The developer names bug catchers. Exact teams, wild encounters and required levels are unverified. |
| 5 | Pewter Gym → Brock | The developer names Geodude and Onix. The gallery shows Onix at level 16. The public description ends at the Boulder Badge. |
I did not walk a full badge run on 23 October 2026. I got through the title, options, controls, and the name entry for me and the rival. The route below is the order on the itch.io description, checked against the gallery and against players who wrote that the demo ends after the Boulder Badge. Devlog #1 on 17 October shows Route 3, Mt. Moon, and a Misty arena. Those scenes are not written here as playable in the public build. PortedGames, on the same day I checked, also would not confirm they had shipped to the public download.
Order on the store page: Pallet Town, Route 1, Viridian City, optional Route 22, Route 2, Viridian Forest, Pewter City. East of Pewter stays closed in that description.
Route details, evidence and safe preparation
- Before starting, read the Controls page: arrow keys move; WASD uses moves. Hold Shift to sprint and Q to jump.
- If starter dialogue freezes with Instant text speed, a player reported that Fast text speed allowed progress. This is a reported workaround, not a reproduced fix.
- Brock preparation based on type matchups: Grass and Water favor the listed Rock/Ground team. No tested minimum level, team or clear-time guarantee is available.
- Keep browser site storage intact. Clearing site data resets progress, and phone players have reported losing saves even without clearing it.
- Use the Updates page to distinguish the public Brock route from Route 3 and Mt. Moon shown in the devlog.
You name yourself and your rival, then start in a bedroom in Pallet Town. I mashed E on the name screen and the field kept extra letters, so I am not publishing a “default name.” The page says you pick a starter. Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle appear in official battle shots, but this session did not reach the selection screen. The exact choices, starting level and opening moves are not confirmed by that evidence.
Route 1 leads to Viridian City. The dusk shot shows a Pokémon Center and a Poké Mart. A commenter said they caught a Pidgey in Viridian. I do not have encounter rates, so this is not a spawn table. Route 22 is the optional rival rematch. One official shot shows Charmander at level 16 against Blue’s Squirtle at level 16. The first-fight level is not in that shot, so I am not writing level 5.
Route 2 runs into Viridian Forest. The store page says bug catchers block the path. Their teams and levels are not published. Pewter Gym is Brock, with Geodude and Onix. The gym shot shows Onix at level 16 using Rock Throw, and the player’s Charmander at level 18. Geodude’s level is not on that image. Onix is Rock/Ground and fills the floor. Q is labeled as a hop over ground moves. Brock’s AI reads type matchups, according to the itch description. Grass and Water are the favorable matchups on the type chart. That is chart reasoning, not a timed clear I recorded. Fire into Rock is the hard path on that same chart.
Players who finished the badge said a message appears and the road stops. The itch “about an hour” line is an average session, not a speedrun time. Friendship words in the 17 October devlog are Wary, Content, Happy, and Devoted, raised by walking a Pokémon out, Pet, Feed, and Picnic, and they do not change battle stats. Picnic and the training dummies in Viridian and Pewter are described in that devlog. I could not confirm they are in the public build I launched.
