Pokemon Battle Advanced first look

The session I can stand behind
On 23 October 2026 I launched the HTML5 build in a Chromium browser at a 1920×849 window, from the itch Run game button, and declined anonymous play data. The title screen said v0.1.0-demo. I reached New Game, Options, both controls pages, and the name entry. I did not record a frame rate, I did not beat Brock, and I did not install the desktop or Android files. Calling this a scored review would oversell this session. It is a first look with other people’s published scores sitting next to it.
| Source | Number | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| itch.io | 4.7 / 5 from 13 ratings | Small sample, 23 October 2026 |
| Remakit editors | 4.4 / 5 | Praise for the look and the real-time fights; the camera made the editor dizzy |
| Remakit users | 2.1 / 5 from 14 votes | The split with the editor score is the interesting part |
| RetroDodo | Positive, 15 October 2026 | They called it a FireRed hack, which the itch page does not |
| PortedGames | Working; their check dated 21 October | Our source readback was 23 October; a play-check, not a score |
Who it fits, and what else exists
The pitch that holds up is simple. You can start it in a browser without a ROM, the battles move in real time, and the price can be zero. The developer posts a Wednesday build and a Saturday note. The public demo, by the store text and by players who reached the badge, ends at Brock. Known issues include placeholder move flashes, abilities that do nothing, and a shader hitch. Players add low frame rates, lost phone saves, a crashing PC box, and a macOS app marked damaged. I did not reproduce those crashes myself.
For a FireRed player curious about real-time combat, the free demo is a way to try that experiment. Someone seeking a finished campaign should weigh the public demo’s Brock endpoint before downloading. Remakit’s comparison also names Empress: Pokemon 2D Arena as an arena-focused alternative. That page does not establish Empress’s price or platforms, and we have not tested it.
- Play it if you want the real-time experiment and you can live with a prototype.
- Skip it if you need a finished campaign, a stable phone save, or a product from Nintendo.
- Multiplayer is not in the menu I saw. The multiplayer page explains the tag.
